A battle of epic proportions lived up to the hype. Drake generously donated $1500 to each battler and the result was one of the best live battles in Battle Rap History. If you don’t already follow King of the Dot make sure you do @kingofthedot . The man that started it all is a friend of the show and has been on the air with us several times… Big shout out to Organik.
The inspiration for my Costume came from this guy. I followed his instructions very closely, although I had to substitute some things and try some other methods to finish the product in time for my Halloween Party. Here are some photos on the process I went through in creating Mr.Peanut Man.
STEP 1: PIGEON WIRE
I used a long roll of pigeon wire obtainable at any local hardware store. I wired together six pieces (5ft length 1ft width) to create a long cylinder cone shown below. From there, I pinched the wires to bring them together and create a peanut-like shape. It was tedious…but some how I got there. The Brim of the hat is made of cardboard which I duck-taped to the wire before paper-mache’ing.
STEP 2: PAPER MACHE
*Paper Mache didn’t work so well for me….So I duck-taped a layer of newspaper onto my structure. Then wallpaper-glued white sheets of basic printer-paper on top of the newspaper to make it a hard shell.
PART 3: PAINTING
*I used an orange base spray paint..then applied brown paint via sponge to blend in giving it a peanut look. If you decide to do this I would suggest trying a yellow to look more authentic to the Mr. Peanut Man original costume, but the orange is a good look too!
STEP 4: THE FINAL PRODUCT
*Black tights, Black long sleeve shirt..Cut off soccer socks combined with black shoes, a cane, and white gloves. I drew the face on with paint and for the mouth I taped cob-webs across the inside which allowed me to see out. If you try this, I suggest you look for a White Stocking for the mouth part.
FINALLY…Do not do this alone! I had lots of great help..so invite your friends..trust me..the Mr. Peanut Man Experience is one of a kind. It will bring happiness to everyone around you!
